The synodal team of the Spanish Bishops’ Conference has issued a new reflection tool entitled “Towards a synodal spirituality”.
Through this booklet, the synodal team remind us that the synod’s invitation to walk together, to listen to one another and to listen to the Spirit is a call to be a more spiritual and communal Church. Guided by the Spirit, it strengthens its bonds, grows stronger as a community and contributes to universal brotherhood.
The invitation to “walk together” led by the Spirit, making us co-responsible for the progress of the Church, requires the baptised to set out on a journey and enter into a process of conversion.
On the other hand, the Final Document of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops emphasised the need for conversion in relationships, processes and structures.
Thus, this text reminds us of the importance of formation in order to become true missionary disciples, including through a missionary spirituality that shapes our Christian life both inside and outside the Church.
After introducing and defining the context in which the synod places us, the text offers some Notes on the spirituality of walking together:
- the desire for conversion
- the Conversation in the Spirit: more than a method
- A spirituality of listening
- A spirituality of incarnation
- Ecclesial discernment
- A spirituality that heals and strengthens bonds
- Mary, model of synodal spirituality
Finally, the text concludes with a reflection on the Eucharist as a source of communion and unity, and the conclusions.
