The General Secretariat of the Spanish Episcopal Conference has welcomed the invitation of the General Secretariat of the Synod for a time of prayer to entrust to the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, the works of the XVI General Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
CEE has entrusted the Episcopal Commission for the Liturgy with the preparation of this prayer.
The General Secretariat of CEE asked each bishop to designate in his diocese a diocesan shrine where the Marian prayer for the Synod will take place. In this way, the Marian prayer will be a moment of intense prayer expressing the vitality and beauty of popular religiosity around Marian shrines.
The proposed prayer is the recitation of the holy rosary, beginning with the invocation of the Holy Spirit and concluding with a special prayer for the Synod. The mysteries will be commended to the different vocations, states and charisms lived in the Church. Each each of the mysteries will have a specific intention in relation to the synodal process, as developed below:
First mystery. Within the lines of the Synod is that of “communion“. In this mystery, based on the conclusions of the national and continental phases of the preparation of the Synod, it is asked that the Church, in a synodal spirit, grow in the dimension of communion.
Second mystery. Within the lines marked out by the Synod is that of “participation“. In this mystery, on the basis of the conclusions of the national and continental phases of the preparation of the Synod, it calls for the growth in the Church of the dimension of participation in a synodal spirit.
Third mystery. Within the lines marked out by the Synod is that of “mission“. On this mystery we will ask that in the Church, on the basis of the conclusions of the national and continental phases of the Synod’s preparations of the Synod, may grow in its synodal spirit and thus become more missionary.
Fourth mystery. In this mystery we will entrust the the celebration of the Synodal Assembly, which will have its first session in Rome next October.
Fifth mystery. In this mystery, from the thanksgiving for what has already been lived, we will pray for for the fruits of this whole process which will culminate in the
Synodal Assembly.
