Representatives of the synodal teams from the dioceses of Regensburg and Speyer have founded the “Netzwerk Weltsynode Deutschand” (World Synod Germany Network) as a place for all those who bring the World Synod to life in the German dioceses.
A newly founded Network aims to link the synodal teams and synodal bodies in the German dioceses. "People in almost every diocese are now sitting on this issue, often without knowing that the same issues are being worked on elsewhere," Noah Walczuch, the network's coordinator, said, "This is precisely what we want to change: to strengthen each other and prepare together for the 2027 meetings, instead of each diocese reinventing the wheel for itself."
The background is the implementation phase of the World Synod. Evaluation meetings are to take place in all dioceses in the first half of 2027, in which the previous developments in the course of the World Synod are to be compiled. The experience will be recorded in two documents. The "Network World Synod Germany" wants to support and network the dioceses in their preparations for this "in a targeted manner, so that no diocese alone faces this task."
Eight digital exchange meetings are planned by the summer of 2027. These are accompanied by the Katholischen Arbeitsstelle für missionarische Pastoral (KAMP), which provides technical support to the network on behalf of the Secretariat of the German Bishops' Conference (DBK).
Although the network was founded by representatives of the synodal teams from the dioceses of Regensburg and Speyer, now contact persons from 20 dioceses are already involved. The newtwork is always open to other members of diocesan teams involved in the implementation of the final document of the XVI Assembly.
We can resume they motto as “We share experiences, learn from each other and prepare the next steps together by 2028”.
