“It is time to take a break in the ecclesial journey, a kind of examination of conscience in the Dioceses, Episcopal Conferences, Continental Conferences, and in all the instances where it is necessary ‘that synodality be increasingly understood and lived as an essential dimension of the ordinary life of the local Churches and of the whole Church’ (Letter of the Accompaniment Process, CPAI)”. This how Mons. Faustino Armendáriz Jiménez, Archbishop of Durango (Mexico), addressed its priests, through its periodical pastoral letter “Jueves Sacerdotal”, to inform about the implementation phase of the synod on synodality.

“We can be busy in many other actions, however, this synod process has to permeate all these actions, logically when this has been carried out from the beginning (10 October 2021); therefore the context of this stage of accompaniment will be more challenging without giving continuity to what has been done in the past years, feeding and energising the process with the fruit of the two sessions of the synod in Rome: October 2023 and 2024, and all that this entails.”

And he proceed: “In the Archdiocese of Durango we ask the Synodality Study Team, chaired by myself, to deepen, organise and motivate this process, where we are walking together, not as something juxtaposed to our evangelising process, but to energise and strengthen it with the action of the Spirit and with the strength of prayer and Eucharistic adoration”.
