Santander (Spain): Listening session for people with disabilities

Last Saturday 12th March, the Diocesan Delegation for Disability of the Diocese of Santander convened a meeting of people with disabilities to contribute to the diocesan phase of the synod.

The meeting took place in the parish hall of St. Mary of the Angels and it was attended by 30 people with intellectual, hearing, visual and physical disabilities and some accompanying persons, including Lourdes Hospitallers. After a welcome, a prayer to the Holy Spirit and a hymn, several questions on the proposed themes were discussed. In order to better articulate the dialogue, the questions were broken down into more concrete notions, which have been prepared in language accessible to people with intellectual disabilities. The experience has been valued by all as very positive.

Organisers says that they have been able to listen to each other, enriching each other mutually. All the people agreed on the need to repeat these meetings.
