INDIA, Ecumenical Prayer Service at Bombay

A meaningful Ecumenical prayer service was organized at St Pius X College, Goregaon, the diocesan seminary, on January 20, 2022. It was based on the theme proposed by the Pontifical Christian Council for Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches, viz. We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him’ (Mt 2:2). Bp John Rodrigues, the Bishop-in-charge of Ecumenism in the Archdiocese led the Prayer Service and spoke of how Christians need to be the guiding light’ to persons who may be lost or are searching for meaning in life today. Pastor B. S. Christdoss of the C.N. I. Church, and now serving at St Mark’s Tamil Church, Vikhroli and Grace Church, Sion-Koliwada, participated in the Service and highlighted the need to live our faith as Christians today in the challenging times we are living in. Pastor Thomas Jacob, the serving Parish Priest of St Stephen, C.N.I. Church, Bandra also presented four different ways the Churches have been journeying together and possible ways we could do so in the future. Prabhavathy, the wife of Pastor Christdoss, did the first reading and Dr Sybil Thomas, the wife of Pastor Thomas led us in the litanic prayers. The seminarians participated in this inspiring Prayer service and felt deep within the call to work towards Christian unity. This Ecumenical Prayer Service was streamed online as well on the Archdiocesan YouTube channel so that Christians in the various Churches could also participate in the same.
