Last 10 March, Awake Milwaukee, a grassroots Catholic non-profit organization focused on addressing the issue of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church and supporting survivors of that abuse, organized an online event in their “Courageous Conversations” series entitled “Why the Church Needs Survivors’ Stories: A Conversation about the Sacred Art of Listening.” Speakers Jerry McGlone, S.J., and Paula Kaempffer shared their own powerful stories of healing from clergy sexual abuse and offer guidance for listening well to survivors.
